What's going on with my Chevy Blazer transmission?

A common problem with the Chevrolet S-10 Blazer 4L60E transmission is an rough 1-2 shift, delayed engagement of a gear, or a shudder / loud shaking from the transmission at low speeds. This is probably caused by a broken 4L60E 1-2 accumulator, which is a little plastic damper that is designed to absorb excess fluid pressure that builds up during a gear change.

If you're driving and the transmission refuses to go into 3rd or 4th gear, then you're probably experiencing another one of the more common Chevrolet S-10 Blazer transmission problems. It stems from a worn out or broken metal disc inside of the 4L60E 3-4 clutch pack.

If you go to take off from a stop, but it takes forever for the transmission to shift from 1st to 2nd, then you may have a broken or excessively worn 4L60E 2-4 transmission band. Most of the time, the friction material on the band is too worn to engage the clutch drum, resulting in the slow 1-2 shift, or high engine revs between 2nd and 3rd gears.

If you live in Folsom and are having these problems with your Chevy Blazer, bring it into our shop and let us determine exactly what's going on. We can get your transmission fixed and put you back on the road!
