Scotty's A1 Transmission Service Center

Sacramento's best transmission service

The Ford F-150 is America's best selling truck and good reason. It’s powerful, hard-working and roomy with spacious cargo bay and passenger areas. If you own one, you may be experiencing some significant Ford F-150 transmission problems.

The 2004, 2005, and 2010 models exhibit the most Ford F-150 transmission problems. The other versions don’t seem to struggle quite as much with this specific issue.

Ford F150 owners have reported:

Clunking sounds: If you hear any strange clunking or clicking noises while driving, there is a high chance they could be coming from a faulty transmission.

Burning smell: Burning while driving could indicate a lack of fluid in the Ford F-150’s transmission.

Sluggish or no response: An excellent transmission will leap forward, while a poor one will struggle to push forward.

Fluid leaks: Red or brown leaks mean something’s wrong with the transmission, while clear means there’s nothing wrong.

Check engine light: A check engine light could mean many things, one being a fault with the transmission.

The problems noted here relate mostly to gasoline powered trucks with either the 10-speed 10r80 or the 6-speed 6r80 units.
