Ram 2500 Truck Transmission Repair Sacramento

What's wrong with my Ram 2500 Truck transmission?

Ram trucks have been around 2009, when Dodge split its truck line off into being its own division. They have a reputation for being rugged durable and versatile. Many homeowners and businesses rely on them daily to get the job done.

Some Ram 2500 trucks have been known to develop significant problems with their transmissions:

Can shift into gear without pressing the brake pedal.

Truck could roll away while parked and the engine is off.

Inability to shift into park.

The five- and six-speed automatic transmissions found in 2009 Dodge Ram and 2010 through 2017 Ram models 2500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 are related to common complaints and recalls.

Some Dodge Ram transmissions, the brake transmission shift interlock pin can sometimes get stuck in the open position. This allowes the truck to be put into gear or slip into gear without depressing the brake pedal.

That caused some trucks to jump out of Park and into Reverse or Drive and roll away while the truck is stopped and the engine is shut off. In other model years, the pin might get stuck closed and prevented the truck from being shifted out of gear at all.

The 2023 RAM 2500 Diesel comes equipped with the 68RFE six-speed automatic transmission. This transmission can handle the tremendous torque of the 6.7L Cummins Turbodiesel I6 engine. Offering power, efficiency and reliability, you can tow a horse trailer across the country or pull a moving trailer from Vermont to Florida. The same qualities apply to the 8-speed automatic 8HP75-LCV transmission available on the gasoline powertrain. When equipped with this heavy-duty 6.4L Hemi V8 engine, the 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque, matched with the 8-speed transmission, provide smooth driving performance while delivering robust towing and payload capacities.
